Dragon Raja - First Look Gameplay | Unreal Engine 4
Dragon Raja(龙族幻想) is a next-gen mobile RPG made by a Chinese studio called "Loong Entertainment" or better known as "Archosaur Studios". Previously codenamed as Project E, Dragon Raja is now ready to take the world by force with its stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4. Some of the game's features include real-time weather change, dynamic lighting, “real” skin textures with reflections, inverse kinematics (IK) animation (involving movement of joints), and many more.
The most distinguishing feature of the game is how the game world was designed in a kind of unity that harmoniously fused the modern world with an ancient Chinese fantasy world. To achieve a more beautiful virtual world, the developers used Unreal Engine 4 that helped the game attain a well-detailed visuals with gorgeous in-game sceneries. As what the trailers have shown, It also features a dynamic range of world view and various environmental changes such as real-time day and night changes, weather and environmental changes.
One of the most impressive details is when your character collides with an NPC in the game, the NPC moves or even fall. In addition to the weather system; weather changes, day and night alteration, and environmental changes will also have an impact both on the characters and the NPCs. For instance, in the rain, the characters and the NPCs will wear an umbrella, the clothes will be wet, and when they run on the road, there is a possibility that they will fall because of the slippery terrain. The developers have done an incredible job in taking advantage of the engine's capabilities.
Dragon Raja is now in open beta under Tencent Games. Go and give the game a try, or perhaps wait for an English speaking publisher to take the game out of China. Knowing the game's success and being Tencent's flagship mobile game, it should reach places. If you want to try the game, visit the game at www.dna.qq.com - it supports iOS, Android, and even PC (through Tencent's emulator).
About Archosaur Studios:
If you didn't know, Archosaur Studios has been developing games since its establishment in 1997. In 2004, Perfect World company brought the studios in, which led to many successful well-known MMORPGs such as Perfect World Online, Jade Dynasty, Ether Saga, and Swordsman Online. In 2014, Archosaur Studios branched out as an independent studio which after they became silent apart from their involvement with another MMORPG called "World of Jade Dynasty" with Perfect World. The team was previously keen on developing self-developed titles with its in-house game engines like the Angelica 3D, Angelica II and III Engines. However, with Project E or Dragon Raja, the tide was turned as it uses Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 instead. Project E is the studio's first game that's not built in an in-house game engine. After several attempts of making a promising gaming engine, both Archosaur and Perfect World gave up on in-house engines and went on using Unreal Engine 4 instead for most of their newest and upcoming titles.
