Automating EBS Snapshots for Data Migration and Disaster Recovery - AWS Virtual Workshop
At AWS, we understand migrating your block storage data to Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) is not trivial, especially when your applications are built on top of on-premises SAN storage arrays. After migration, it is even more important to meet your backup compliance and disaster recovery requirements. In this workshop, you will learn how you can use Amazon EBS direct APIs to create snapshots from block storage, regardless of where it resides, and achieve disaster recovery in AWS. Once you have a snapshot, you can use the Fast Snapshot Restore (FSR) feature to quickly recover data from EBS snapshots to EBS volumes, and attach EBS volumes to EC2 instances in an Availability Zone. By using Data Life Cycle Manager (DLM), you can write policies to automate creation, management, and cross-region copy of EBS snapshots for your Amazon EBS volumes. We’ll have a live presenter and moderators on hand to answer questions and help ensure you have the information you need to make your data migration to AWS successful.
In this episode, you'll:
- Learn how to create EBS snapshots of your on-premises block storage data using Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) direct APIs
- Understand how with the help of Data Life Cycle Manager (DLM), you can manage, copy, and delete EBS snapshots in a simple, automated way based on EBS resource tags
- Learn how to use Fast Snapshot Restore (FSR) feature to quickly recover your data into EBS volumes
